Gordian In -Sight : 3D Knot Creation and Computation in Virtual Reality
This project introduces a virtual reality (VR) platform for the interactive creation, manipulation, and recognition of mathematical knots in three dimensions. It addresses critical limitations in existing software, such as KnotPlot and KnotInfo by providing an integrated environment that supports solo and collaborative exploration, real-time computation of knot invariants, and immersive diagrammatic interpretation. Built on the Resonite platform, the tool allows users to construct knots dynamically, transition between spatial and planar representations, and compute invariants ranging from classical polynomials to quantum invariants. The system enhances both the cognitive accessibility and research-level utility of knot theory through embodied interaction and advanced visualization.
